You know how it is when you spend a couple weeks doing lots of wedding stuff... then you immediately leave town for a week, fully aware that you're leaving the house in a state of disaster... then you come home from a week's vacation and unload everything into the dining room on top of all the wedding stuff you left there last week... not to mention you spend all day Saturday at a friends' wedding... so Sunday arrives and you think, sure, this won't be too bad, I'll drink a pot of coffee and then I'll put everything away, and do a quick clean of the first floor so when company arrives to stay for the week tonight it will be presentable... then Sunday comes, you sleep later than planned (and it was awesome, every single minute that you overslept) and you start on the cleaning... you get through the living room, the easiest room by far... and then you decide ooh i should make muffins for tomorrow's breakfast and brownies and rolls for dinner... and then you realize it's now a bigger mess than when you started... so then you get back to the mess... you clean for awhile, you put in some laundry... you ask your brother to bring you back the air mattress and pump for your own guests... you talk on the phone while working to clear the mess... and then, an hour and a half before company is due to arrive you sit down...
and realize only one room in this house is ready for company... we can have muffins, brownies and rolls, but nothing else has been figured out for dinner... you need to drop Dog #1 off at Grandma's... you have a softball game starting at exactly the time your guests are due to arrive... not to mention you're too tired to stand back up...

You write a blog about it, maybe even instant message your cousin... ;)
Not just insanity, but generosity! Giving your time and opening your home to friends can be frazzling, but I must say, you do it with much grace. :) Went to the profession mass today and it was so beautiful!
