Since the dog blankets aren't dry yet, you all get another post. Dog #1 finally came in and is now whining to get to the kitten under the couch. Excellent.
The weeds do seem to be taking over. I need to borrow my brother's cultivator and till the aisles which have become "weed beds". I also need to do some weeding in the individual beds, but the aisles are the worst.
Yield:
-Last week I took some garden stuff up north for vacation meals: 6 garden cukes, as well as a salad's worth of lettuce, sugar snap peas, green beans, and dreams of ripe tomatoes.
-Today I picked 6 more cukes which may turn into some home canned pickles sometime in the next few days.
-Tomorrow I need to pick a ton of green beans, the plants are covered. I've never canned green beans on my own, but I did do a batch with Lisa last year in Montana and may attempt a batch if I get really inspired or energetic in the next few days.
-The tomato plants are looking great, tons of green tomatoes. A few have some spotty dying leaves on the bottom, and all need to be secured to their stakes / cages again since they've all grown significantly this week. I cannot wait for the first garden fresh tomato!!!
-There are dozens of jalapeno peppers ripe and ready for picking. Unfortunately, the tomatoes for the salsa aren't ripe yet... so I may have to pick, cut, and freeze the ripe peppers so as to wait on the tomatoes. Somehow I haven't quite figured out the timing.
-Last but not least, the centerpieces for the reception last weekend came primarily from my gardens. We used flowers of all kinds, in canning jars with color coordinated ribbons on them. It turned out beautifully and I was quite impressed. And there are plenty of new flowers ripe this week for my continued enjoyment.
