Moments of Tranquility

A few days ago I loaded the dogs in the CRV and we headed for one of our favorite spots, the country roads just out of town. Mmmm so beautiful.

The less tranquil part of the walk is always these two, who love it as much as me, but don’t seem to appreciate the stillness, the wildflowers, or the moments I want to stop and take pictures. There’s nothing like honing your photography skills by trying to take close ups, in fading light, without a flash, while the dog pulls to go chase a squirrel or tramples the subject of your photo. Gotta love those pups. Well I do anyway. And somehow their enthusiasm just adds to the adventure.

Fall in Michigan

This is for my sister, who is missing fall in Michigan.  As I mentioned awhile ago, I decided to enjoy fall this year without thinking about winter. It is actually working quite well. And fall in Michigan is a beautiful thing. No way around it.

So here it is, sister dear. I’m missing you like crazy here in Michigan, and sharing some of my fall long distance. I love you!

Sunset

Sunset is my favorite time to take photos. I love when the sun nears the horizon and turns the world into a glowing place of beauty. I need to grab my tripod next time since the light is fading and it's hard to get a good exposure without the tripod. I really do think sunset it is a magical time of the day. I am always in awe of how gorgeous everything is with that warm, fuzzy sunset lighting.

Even my Suzie is cuter in a sunset.

Artsy Stuff

Sometimes I miss the days of my photography classes... I miss getting out there and intentionally creating art on a regular basis. I've been doing more (and by more I mean some) artsy photography lately. I always like doing nature shots, especially flowers, so it's a good season for me with all the flowers around just waiting to be photographed. It's kind of strange but I feel rusty at the artistic photography- out of practice- but I've got a few that I really like so I thought I'd share.
