There's no place like home...

I probably do one of these posts every time I go away and then come home again, but boy I do love home. Besides, Andrea over at The Good Life just did one - and now that I think about it, I think I love most of the same things about home... sorry Andrea, I'm really not trying to copy you. :D

1. The pooches... They can be a lot of work, and expense, and dog hair, and extra dog related chores, and all the rest of it... but I sure do love my pooches. There's nothing like pulling into the drive to see Maggie hop up, paws on the windowsill to see who is home... and the amazing tail wagging, leaping for joy, whines of delight, and Maggie throwing herself into my arms for a hug as soon as I walk in the door. Its good to be missed and appreciated. Suzie has requested that I never leave again. I just told her I love her and left it at that. And the BOC are the gift that keeps on giving... I don't think anyone else on earth is or will ever be that excited to see me every morning at 6 am when I stumble down the stairs heading for the hair dryer.

2. The kitchen and availability of meals I want to eat. The monastery is great, but seriously the food there is consistently awful. I tend to eat a lot of salad and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches there. Granted, I am a picky eater, but this stuff is bad... when it smells like barf, looks like barf, and your previous experiences tell you it will taste like barf... anyway, its nice to be home and able to cook (or not cook) something you want to eat.

3. Laundry facilities... this is kind of a silly one, but over the weekend at the monastery I got wet and muddy every day, and had to just drape said wet and muddy clothes over the heater to attempt to dry them. Its nice to get home and throw everything in the washer and make it wearable again.

4. The house plants... I've been accused of being a house plant fanatic, and I guess posting about them on my blog might confirm that... uh oh. Ahem, anyway, the bulbs we planted a few weeks back are doing well and getting quite tall, several of them are over 8 inches tall and the buds for the flowers are starting to bloom, I love it!!

5. Kleenex with lotion... I guess this isn't only at home but its one of those nice things to come home to. I managed to rekindle this cold I've had on and off over the last month this past weekend on retreat, and their little free one ply scratchy kleenex is nothing like puffs plus with lotion. "A nose in need deserves puffs indeed"

I'm pretty sure I could go on and on... but I haven't really been home much in the last couple days (thanks to the CTK parish mission going on every night this week) and I'm trying not to copy Andrea's post verbatim, so I'll end there. There really is no place like home...

I've been referenced...I feel famous now! :) I hope you had a great retreat and the parish mission is very blessed.

Yeah, home is good. I like being at home and home home. I am getting sick of homework though. It's about time I get out. Maybe I'll get to go to the Parish Mission tomorrow. I'm glad you're back, sorry about breaking the cross!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks the Monks' food smells, looks and tastes like barf. With the exception of the cheese - and we won't get in to what that smells like...
